The Meridian 22 Private English Language High School and the Meridian 22 Private German Language High School were established in 1998 under the license of the Ministry of Education and Science (RD 14-23/29.04.1998). They both operate under the established curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Science for classes with intensive study of English and German languages respectively.

Tuition

Meridian 22 Private English and German Language High Schools successfully combines the traditions and experience of the Bulgarian educational system and national culture with the European model for foreign language education. This ensures a mobility of training and continuity of tuition. The school prepares human resources adequate for Bulgaria’s participation within the European Community.

A team of highly qualified teachers cultivate a spirit of respect in the students towards the national Bulgarian traditions and values.    The school library of “Meridian22”Junior High Private School and “Meridian22” Private Language High School is a part of the basic resource and a key point in the educational institution “Meridian 22”. It works directly with the final user (the students), showing the necessary titles in accordance with the subjects and the information needed.
The librarian answers in details the questions of the user concerning the necessary information, provides topical guidance, defines the section and the scientific trend of the question and selects the literature which could answer the search in the best possible way. It is carried out mainly with the librarian’s help. An alternative way is to find the necessary literature in our e-catalogue published in “Meridian 22” web-page-www.meridian22-edu.com.
A considerable part of the library’s book stock contains literature in English, including titles which answer the information needs in different spheres. These are as follows:

In these spheres we also have a rich book stock in Bulgarian, as well as Bulgarian fiction and foreign fiction translated into Bulgarian.
The library is physically divided into two parts:

• IB library-for the High School-8-th-12-th grade,
• Junior library-for the Junior High School –prep. class -7-th grade.

   In addition to this the library has a great variety of methodological literature which supports the teaching process, namely grammar books, teacher’s books and books containing different games connected with the school material to be taught.
Besides that, a large part of our information sources are represented by reference materials  such as encyclopedias, dictionaries and periodicals- Forum, The Times, The Economist, National Geographic.
Right now “Meridian 22”Private Language High School is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme whose aim is to prepare the high school students for applying for foreign universities

The diploma of the IB is acknowledged as a prestigious qualification in the universities all over the world. Having such a diploma helps its owners to be admitted in some of the best –known institutions in the world.
The IBO Diploma Programme combines some of the best qualities of several educational systems and provides standardized requirements and international recognition of the diplomas. The educational process is managed, administrated and estimated by IBO. The two-year course finishes with writing an extended essay and examinations assessed by IBO members. Apart from the IBO diploma the high school students can receive separate IBO certificates on some of the subjects. The tuition in the 11-th and 12-th grades of the high school is structured in such a way that it covers both the requirements of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science for secondary education (based on the programme for language schools) and the requirements of IBO for its Diploma Programme.
At present it is necessary that our library’s book stock answers and covers certain requirements connected with the IBO Programme.That is why we gradually renovate and enrich our fund with new educational literature containing textbooks in accordance with the disciplines we have chosen to be taught in the Diploma Programme.
Our school library takes the responsibility to prepare a book stock covering both the requirements of the IB Programme and the fiction and methodological literature conformable to the educational plans of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The library of “Meridian 22”schools aims at introducing its own conception about the book stock. It is closely connected to its adequate actualization and the aim to make it a cultural and information centre serving students as well as teachers. One of our main goals is its profile to answer each specific information inquiry, which means offering full range of information on a particular subject. So, one of the main tasks of the librarian is to be able to direct the readers to the information they need and to the books it is contained in.
   Following all these requirements, “Meridian 22” schools aim at a well-planned cooperation, which, through the centre of intellectualism and culture represented by the library, will direct their efforts towards acquiring high results and forming students who will be inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people.

Tuition for obtaining IGCSE

The Meridian 22 Independent English Language High School is the first school in Bulgaria which offers its trainees the opportunity to obtain an English Secondary Education Diploma IGCSE. The optional tuition is organised by St. Andrew’s, Cambridge, in the building of the Meridian 22 School and it is offered to students who have completed the 8th Grade. Subjects from the Business Programme for the Secondary Education of the College are introduced.

Students may choose 3 of the subjects offered:

English language tuition for the IELTS level which is necessary for applying to the British universities, is carried out. Tuition in English is carried out according to original textbooks and programmes approved by the Ministry of Education in Great Britain. Every June and July the students from the optional tuition group will study at St. Andrew’s, Cambridge and after completing the four-year course of studies they will sit for an IGCSE examination in England.

Those who have successfully taken their examinations will have the opportunity to apply to all British universities for the chosen business subjects without any placement test.

Abroad with Meridian 22 Private Foreign Language High School

Upon completion of 9th or 10th grade all Interbusiness Private Vocational High School students can continue their studies at St. Andrew’s College, Cambridge (Business Programme) or Holborn College, London (Law Programme) for obtaining an English Secondary Education Diploma. Fees for the Interbusiness students are preferential.

Meridian 22 Ltd holds the exclusive rights for representation in Bulgaria of St. Andrew’s, Cambridge, and since 1992, the company has been sending students for year-round tuition in order to obtain a British Certificate for secondary education. Additionally, every summer Meridian 22 Ltd sends students and businessmen on summer English language tuition and on specialized business courses.

St. Andrew’s, Cambridge, was established in 1976, as the first independent college located in Cambridge, one of the most beautiful and famous university centres. St. Andrew’s is experienced in preparing students for obtaining a British Certificate for Secondary Education. The college offers an original curriculum which successfully combines EFL tuition with approximately 30 subjects.
